A moment in this room
Late afternoon, and the courtyard lindens are throwing shadows across the silk walls. The bath has been run. A dressing gown is laid out with the collar turned up, as if someone were expecting a photographer.
Named for Lida Moreau
Film actress, winter 1949.
Lida Moreau came to Paris to film a picture about a spy and a waltz, and spent most of the shoot hiding in this room from the press. She asked for the courtyard side because no long lens could reach it. The housekeepers still talk about the night she taught the night porter to tango in the corridor.
